a cura di Roshan Borsato, Alberto Parenti
Nature has already solved the challenges we are facing.
What we need is to listen better.

Ecodesign is a powerful tool to promote circular economy and more sustainable consumption patterns. It is a mean to extend products lifetime and minimise waste, helping the economy to become more resource efficient and resilient. Ecodesign and circularity can boost the competitiveness of frontrunner companies, which have embraced the green transition. This volume presents the environmental and business case of ecodesign. It does so by analysing the main elements of a new European law, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), entered into force on 18 July 2024 with the dual objective of improving the sustainability of the goods sold in the EU and of ensuring their free circulation. It also shows the challenges ahead. Besides the topic, what makes this volume special is its unique blend of contributors: the authors of the first six chapters were members of the European Commission task force which prepared, drafted and negotiated the ESPR. The authors of the second part are Professors engaged since many years in the conceptualisation of circular economy. Enjoy your reading!
